For those applying to study the performing or production arts

WACI are delighted to be offering a suite of Audition and Interview Prep sessions. These sessions will help you prepare for your interviews and auditions, help build confidence and offer tips and advice specific to your discipline.

These workshops are for those who are thinking about applying to study at a college, university or conservatoire in one of the following areas:

Acting or Musical Theatre
(Monologue Prep, 1:1 Sessions)
When: Dates between 29 October – 14 November
Times: 6pm or 7:15pm
Where: Online

Deadline to apply: Tuesday 22 October

Music Teaching
(BEd, Bachelor of Education in Music)
When: 5 & 7 November, 6:30pm – 8pm

If you’re in the process, or thinking about applying to study music teaching at a college, university or conservatoire, join us for our BEd Interview Prep workshops.

Our BEd Interview Prep Sessions will be a great opportunity for you to:

  • Receive tips on interviewing
  • Learn more about the interview experience
  • Build your confidence
  • Learn more about studying BEd Music

Participants will require access to a keyboard for the sessions. Please do let us know if this will not be possible, and we will look into ways of supporting you in being able to access a keyboard or piano.

WACI are pleased to announce our new round of one-to-one sessions for music audition preparation. If you are in the process, or thinking, of applying to study music at a college, university or conservatoire, these sessions are for you!

Our one-to-one music advice sessions are a great opportunity to:

  • Learn more about the audition experience
  • Receive tips on how to improve your audition
  • Build your confidence in auditioning

We have a range of one-hour slots available throughout the second week of October:

 Dance, Drama, Production and Filmmaking 

Tuesday 12 & Thursday 14 September

Want to discover more about studying dance, drama, production or filmmaking? Then our Focus on Applications for DDPF sessions are for you.

These two free sessions will be a great chance to:

  • Learn about studying at a college, university or conservatoire in dance, drama, production or filmmaking
  • Gain an understanding of the application process
  • Get top tips on how to write your personal statement

These sessions focus on applying via UCAS and UCAS Conservatoires, as well as applying for a creative course at any college and/or university.

When: 12 & 14 September, 5-7pm
Where: Online (via Zoom)
Who is it for: Eligible S5 and S6 pupils who are looking to apply to study the arts in further or higher education

  • living in an SIMD20 postcode and/or
  • care experienced or estranged and/or
  • identifying as Black, Indigenous or a Person of Colour (living at an SIMD20 or 40 postcode).

WACI are delighted to offer new workshops in November for those who are thinking about applying to study at college, university or conservatoire for drama or music teaching:

Monologue Audition Prep

When: Mondays and Wednesdays, 1-17 November,  6-8pm
Who: For pupils who will be required to perform a monologue as part of an audition process when applying for a higher education course in drama.

Our audition prep will:

Yellow star Prepare you for the audition scenario
Yellow star Receive performance feedback

Short Course and Interview Prep Workshop Bookings Now Open!

If you are interested in Filmmaking or Theatre Production in Art and Design we have the following opportunities open to WACI pupils:

 

1/ Short Courses (No experience required):

Introduction to Filmmaking (Booking Now Closed)

This short course will introduce you to the different aspects of the filmmaking process. You will develop a new, original idea, which you will then outline, shoot, direct and edit into a finished product.

Theatre Production Art and Design (Booking Now Closed)

This course gives you a practical taste of different Art and Design Production specialisms including set design, prop making, costume and scenic art. Taught by industry professionals the course will offer an introduction to these fields and an insight into possible career pathways.

2/ Audition and Interview Prep Workshops:
