Get Into: Performing and Production Arts

(For people aged 16+) 

This nurturing programme is a great first step to take at RCS if you want to get into Performing and Production Arts but you’re not sure where to start. Ten weeks of practical workshops on Saturdays will help you begin your creative journey at RCS.

What Courses Can I Do? 

Get Into:

  • Performance: Acting, script work, devising and movement 
  • Production Stage and Screen: Lighting, sound and production arts 
  • Singing Together: Choral singing in many styles, vocal leadership and teaching skills 
  • Arts with Community: A multi-artform programme, joyously exploring the positive impact the arts can have on people, and the world

What Will I Get Out of It? 

  • Develop your creative and practical artform skills

What Does it Cost? 

Get Into is free to attend for people from disadvantaged backgrounds. You must be 16 or older when the course starts, and meet one or more of the following criteria: 

  • Living in an SIMD20 postcode
  • Be care experienced
  • Be estranged from, and receiving no support from, family or carers  
  • Live in an SIMD20 or SIMD40 postcode and belong to one of the following groups: 
    • Global Majority
    • Living rurally  
    • D/deaf or Hard of Hearing

When Does it Happen? 

Get Into takes place on Saturdays at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland:  

  • Taster Morning, from 10am till 1:30pm on 30 August  
  • Enrolment Morning, from 10am – 12 noon on 4 October
  • Then every Saturday from 18 October to 6 December 
  • There may be additional evenings when you attend free performances at the RCS
