Welcome

Principal’s Welcome

A very warm welcome to the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. We are delighted you have chosen to study here. You are joining a dynamic community of artists and creative producers working in a vibrant city that is home to five national performing companies, a legendary live music scene, world-class galleries and cutting-edge visual arts. Glasgow is a city which is also friendly, fun and full of possibilities, just like the place you have chosen to start this chapter of your own creative story.

You arrive at an important time for RCS and for the arts. Our essential friendly and creative nature remains the same while our innovation and desire to think about where the arts are going evolves and develops.

At the heart of everything is our creativity. Through the year ahead we will engage and connect with people, communities and networks right here in Glasgow and across the world, through sharing our performances as well as learning through research and practice. We will premiere new works from our concert halls, studios and stages, as well as welcoming a range of world-renowned artists to work, share knowledge and co-create with us.

We’re so glad you’re here. Your contribution to this community will echo in our halls, studios and workshops long after you complete your studies. The discoveries and insights you will gain into your art will be even more significant because you will do so amongst friends.

I cannot wait to see and hear the results of your hard work and I wish you all the best for what I hope will prove to be some of the most exciting years of your lives.
