Transitions Student Joins National Youth Orchestra

Celebrating a successful audition and place in the NYO 2023

One of our Transitions students, Tom Donkin, has been successful in his audition for the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain 2023. He has gained the role of joint principal for the Bassoon section.

As part of this, Tom will be participating in a leadership programme, three residencies and a number of workshops and concerts throughout the year.   The first residency will commence on 30 December 2022 with a tour around the country including the venues such as the Barbican Concert Hall, Nottingham Royal Concert Hall, Warwick Arts Centre and Philharmonic Hall Liverpool

The orchestra will be officially launched in November.

Our newly recruited Fair Access Ambassadors for 2022/23 have been busy over the past few months attending events and speaking to school groups. They’ve been letting everyone know about Fair Access here at RCS alongside talking to pupils, parents, and carers about the different options for studying and careers in the performing and production arts.

This session will be practical, purposeful and playful.  Explore strategies for creating devised drama from a stimulus. Refresh your skills and develop your toolkit of theatre-making techniques in a collaborative environment.  Philippa’s influences as a theatre maker include Frantic AssemblyPina Bausch, Quarantine, Mammalian Diving Reflex and Candoco.

 Fair Access Mental Health Workshops

Fair Access are offering Mental Health workshops to our students in a range of areas. These workshops are designed to empower and provide you with skillsets and coping mechanisms that will help you combat current and future challenges. 

Who it is for: All Fair Access Students (WACI & Transitions Students)

When: 5.30pm – 7.30pm 

Where: Online. These sessions will take place on Zoom


Workshop 1: Understanding Mental Health & Emotional Well-Being 

4 October  (aged 16 & 17)

6 October (aged 18+) 

 

Workshop 2: Managing Stress, Building Resilience & Self Care
