Fair Access Expo 2021

We’re excited to announce that bookings for our upcoming Fair Access Expo are now open!!!

Come along and join us on Thursday 4th November for open discussions around Widening Access to the Arts.

We are delighted that the wonderful screen actor Julie Hesmondhalgh will be opening the Expo, sharing her passion for the arts and its power to transform lives and communities. We will also be sharing stories and flagging up opportunities for people interested in a career in Dance, Drama, Music, Film, Production, Theatre and the Performing Arts.

This year, the main discussions that you can take part in are:

Young People as Champions of Widening Access to the Arts
A group of young people will come together to share their experience of choosing the arts as a pathway. We’ll delve into what it’s been like and how they see themselves moving forward.

 Where Theatre Meets Film
In this discussion we will hear from theatre-makers and filmmakers and people who do both – we will explore the many varied opportunities that are available in Film and theatre and how both practical and creative disciplines can straddle both art forms.

Being Working Class in The Arts
A career in the arts is not always celebrated as a life choice or even as an option at all – in this panel we will hear from a panel of speakers from working-class communities who have forged creative careers, often against the odds.

Monthly Transitions Surgeries for Transitions students

Questions and Queries 10min Drop-in Sessions

First Monday of each month between 5pm-6pm

We’ve set up monthly drop-in sessions so that you can ask us anything about compulsory and optional Transitions activity – which ranges from performance trips to masterclasses, and also covers coaching and audition/interview preparation.

Here are some examples of the questions you could ask us:

• How do I tell someone that I’m going to miss a class?
• What should I do if I am asked to buy materials by a tutor?
• Can someone help me fill out my finance forms?
• Do you pay travel for optional activities?
• I’ve lost my new student agreement – can you send me another?
• Who do I tell if my address has changed?
• How do I make my coaching booking?
• When do I apply to UCAS?

Make an appointment by emailing us by noon on the Friday before the surgery you want to attend. We will confirm your appointment by email.

Advice and Guidance 10min Drop-in Sessions

Third Monday of each month between 5pm-6pm

Do you need Advice and Guidance from a Transitions Coordinator? We are here to support you. Starting from September, we’ve set up 10min drop-in sessions so that you can talk to us about wellbeing, timekeeping, finance, communication and pathways.

Here are some other examples of the things you might need help with:

• Juggling a busy schedule
• If you are feeling low and need someone to talk to
• Making decisions about next steps to apply for
• Understanding the feedback you have been given by a tutor or audition panel

Make an appointment by emailing us by noon on the Friday before the surgery you want to attend. We will confirm your appointment by email.
