Choosing The Right Course

Group of students standing doing a hand huddle

As you are a Transitions student, we expect you to be applying to the RCS, but we also encourage you to apply to other courses that appeal to you so that you can make an informed choice if you receive multiple offers.

Some things that you may want to consider:

  • The structure of the course.  Look at the number of teaching hours and the assessment criteria.  Does it cover the areas you want to get out of your education
  • The teachers on the course.  As well as the core teaching staff, what opportunities are there to study with visiting artists
  • The graduates of the course.  Not necessarily whether they are universally recognised, but what kind of a careers do they tend to follow and is this right for you?
  • The location of the Institution.  Will you need to leave home to study and are you prepared to do that.  There are many ways to fund your studies both within Scotland the rest of the UK but the first question to ask is whether you are ready to make the move
