If you are made an offer at the RCS they will usually fall into 3 categories:

Unconditional

A full offer.

Conditional

An offer with conditionsThis may be because you need to achieve required academic qualifications or it could be that your references are not yet complete.

Reserve

You may receive a reserve offer because the panel haven’t seen all of the Scottish candidates but you are still under consideration or it could be that they are waiting for the people with full offers to make a final decision.

Further Information

Here is some detailed information from the RCS Admissions Team about the whole RCS application process through to offers:

School of Music (SoM)

The deadline to apply for the SoM is usually the beginning of October (between the 1st-3rd). In general, it’s best to refer to the website for most up-to-date information. Some departments might accept late applications, and this will be considered case by case. But in order to be considered for a scholarship it’s best to apply by the deadline. All applicants who apply in time, will receive an audition. This can be in person or online depending on their preference. Our in-person audition week will take place in the first week of November. Online auditions will take place thereafter. We aim to provide all applicants with an outcome before the start of the Christmas break, as scholarship decisions are made in January.

School of Drama, Dance, Production and Film (DDPF)

The deadline to submit a UCAS Conservatoire application for undergraduate degrees is usually the 31st of January. Please note that we cannot accept any late applications for either BA Acting or BA Musical Theatre. BA Production Arts and Design and BA Production Technical Management are usually quite flexible with their deadline, but you should not rely on that and let us know straight away if you are unable to meet the published deadline. We strongly encourage all applicants to look at the website for up-to-date information as this might change last minute.

The audition process is a bit longer for most of the DDPF courses and offers usually start going out in late April early May and they will get more information about when to expect outcomes when meeting the panel. All audition outcomes will be posted on UCAS Conservatoire. Only applicants with a guaranteed offer (GU or GC) will receive an offer letter. Reserve offer holders (VU and VC) and unsuccessful candidates will only receive an outcome via UCAS Conservatoire. The offer letter will clearly state what conditions the offer holder has to meet, and references can be sent to references@rcs.ac.uk.

Educational certificates should be sent to the admissions inbox. If you receive any offer, you should take immediate action including accepting or declining our offer through the UCSA Conservatoire website. Please contact the Admissions team straightaway with any queries admissions@rcs.ac.uk   Failure to accept your offer will result in it being ‘declined by default’ which may mean that your place is offered to someone who has a reserve offer.
