Do you want to be a performance maker? Passionate about making your own work or being a performance artist, but not sure where to begin?

Our Transitions Contemporary Performance Practice programme might be just what you are looking for.

Aimed at those who are aged 16+  – we are looking for people who want to experiment with performance making. Our programme is exciting. You will experiment with:

  • Performance writing
  • Outdoor Arts
  • Devising performance and making new work
  • Movement practice
  • Experimental performance
  • Making performance for/with communities
  • Experimenting with design
  • And much more….

We’ll take you on performance trips, offer you masterclasses, creative conversations and short courses. We’ll also help you to prepare your application for our RCS undergraduate programmes and give you access to a personal life coach.

If you want to collaborate with like-minded people, people who want to make a difference to the world through performance making, then why not applyYou might want to be a writer, a dancer, a performer, a community practitioner, a teaching artist, a director, an outdoor arts expert…

We are looking for an exciting group of people who are open and want to experiment with new forms of performance. 

You don’t need to be an expert – you just need to have some performance making experience to apply

Podcast Project Launch

 Podcast Project Launch 

Tuesday 1 February, 7:30pm

Join us on Tuesday 1 February at 7.30pm for the launch of four new podcasts – artist led collaborative projects created with students on the Contemporary Performance Practice and Transitions programmes at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

These projects ran from June – September 2021 and were supported by the William Grant Foundation, a non-profit association established to support charitable causes in Scotland. Its work is funded by William Grant and Sons Ltd.
Hear more about Podcast Project from Jesse Paul, Fair Access Manager and Dr Laura Bissell, Interim Head of Contemporary Performance, who will also reveal future plans for the project.
We worked with artists Graeme Roger and Dave Martin; Sarah Wishart; Janice Parker and Matthew Arthur Williams. Graeme, Sarah and Janice will join us to discuss the inspiration for their Podcasts, before we hear a short extract from each. The event will conclude with a Creative Conversation involving the artists, facilitated by Dr Laura Bissell.

Taster Sessions for Contemporary Performance Practice

When: 13 & 27 May, 5pm 

Where: via Zoom

If you are interested in finding out about how you can make your own work and develop as an artist, come along and hear from Interim Head of Contemporary Performance Practice Dr Laura Bissell and current CPP student Holly Worton who will introduce some of the practices on the programme.

They will also host a Q&A where you can ask questions about what it is like to study Contemporary Performance Practice.

The taster sessions are free and open to all, and will last for 40 minutes.
