What was the most useful thing you learned about your artform and yourself?

The most important thing to me that I learned about myself was my determination. I realised through Transitions that I am a confident person and can use this to create the type of career I want in music. It also highlighted my creativity and desire to create new performance ideas. As an artist, Transitions allowed me to explore my ideas and really use my undergraduate degree to its full capacity.

Why should someone think about joining Transitions?

Transitions offer opportunities that I would never have even known about or considered if I was not part of the programme. It opens up windows and introduces you to contacts and experiences within my line of work. It also allows you to come in contact with people from a similar background to yourself making things such as starting RCS in first year a whole lot easier as I was able to establish those friendships.

What is one piece of advice would you give to any current student on Transitions?

I would suggest using this opportunity to its full potential. Do not let pre-existing feelings or emotions from holding you back to exploring your creativity and showcasing your art to the world. Use this programme as a validation for your talent and continue to express yourself!

If you could do it all over again, what would you do differently within your time with Transitions?

If I could do it all over again I would definitely not restrict myself as much or appreciate the opportunity a lot more during the time. I felt at times, due to social experiences/status, that I stopped myself from accepting every opportunity when I should have been relishing in the experiences.
