Suzanne Shanks

Suzanne Shanks trained at the Dance School of Scotland and the London Studio Centre, graduating with a BA (Hons) in Theatre Dance.  She worked as a professional dancer and freelance artist for several years, travelling the world working on cruise ships, performing frequently at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and in shows across the UK before beginning her teaching career. 

She has been employed as a ballet and dance lecturer in higher education facilities, private dance schools and specialised dance training centres including City of Glasgow College, Argyll College (UHI)ATG at the Theatre Royal Glasgow, and Broughton High Schools’ specialist dance department in Edinburgh.    

She now teaches at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, working with both BA and MA level students on the Musical Theatre Course and younger dancers on the Modern Ballet Junior courses including the Young Ballet Company.  She is also part of the team of teachers who work with the Junior Associates at Scottish Ballet.  

She is currently studying for her Post Graduate Certificate in Higher Arts Education, analysing her practice further and learning from specialised teachers.   Suzanne is delighted to be working with the Transitions Team and is looking forward to passing on her knowledge and passion for dance to the students at RCS.
