Piano Accompaniment and Piano for Dance Audition Requirements

Piano Accompaniment

RCS will provide applicants with a singer and a instrumentalist should they attend an in-person audition and choose the set repertoire as noted below. Recorded submissions and changes from set repertoires will require the applicant to source their own singer and instrumentalist.

The repertoire is as below:

  • Instrumental : Beethoven Cello Sonata in C Op. 102 No.1 (Andante — Allegro vivace)
  • Vocal : Schubert — Ganymed (Key Ab) and Debussy — Mandoline (Opening note “G” in piano part)

We would also accept three contrasting accompanied works of your own choosing.

Piano for Dance

Please prepare the following for your audition recording –

  • Performance of one short piano work (no longer than five minutes) of the applicant’s own choice
  • Performance of prepared ballet excerpts (which will be emailed to you once you apply)
  • Basic improvisation which takes the form of simple classroom warm up exercises set by a member of the ballet staff to be accompanied by the applicant (videos will be emailed to you once you apply)
