References

If you did not submit your references as part of your UCAS Conservatoires application but only listed their name and contact details, you will now be required to contact your referees to provide a reference. It is your responsibility to ensure your references are sent to the Conservatoire prior to your audition date. UCAS Conservatoires provides reference forms for you to download and send to your referees for completion. References can be emailed directly to us from your referee to references@rcs.ac.uk.

Please do not contact us to check if your references have been received as due to the high volume of applications, we cannot check this.

If, following your audition, we still require your reference(s), you will be contacted directly regarding this.

Preparing for your Audition

There are many things you can do to prepare for your audition, so you feel confident and relaxed on the day.

  • Take advantage of any opportunity to perform in public or in front of other performers, to gain confidence and experience in performing under pressure.
  • Have several practice auditions to friends and family – including walking into the room, settling down and performing in unfamiliar settings.
  • Make a list of things you need to remember on the day. Allow yourself plenty of time to get to the Conservatoire, making allowances for delays trains, planes and buses.
  • Wear something comfortable which will not restrict your movement when performing and will not distract you from your performance.
  • Think of any questions you may want to ask us. There will be opportunities throughout your audition to ask any questions you may have to the audition panel, students and admission staff. This is your opportunity to get a feel of the Conservatoire and if we are the place for you!

RCS Scholarships

All applicants are considered for scholarship as part of the audition process. Scholarships are competitive and, should you be successful, you will be notified of this as soon as possible following your audition. Further information on scholarships can be found here.
