Learning Technologies 

The Learning Technologist can be contacted, via ithelpdesk@rcs.ac.uk for advice and support relating any aspect of technology-enhanced learning (TEL) within the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

Learning technologies: researching and implementing technologies and approaches such as virtual learning environments, online learning, blended learning, development and maintenance of the staff and student portal, and support the RCS performance streaming technology platforms.

Learning design: assisting academic staff and course teams in optimising the use of digital technologies as they design new programmes or revise existing ones, with the overall aim of maximising innovation and potential within the learning & teaching framework.

Our “Student Induction Launch Pad“, and “Moodle Support for Academic Staff“, provide a good starting point, for digital orientation. Both of these modules are self enrolling, please contact our Learning Technologist to request the enrolment key for the staff module.

IT Training

The IT Trainer can be contacted, via ithelpdesk@rcs.ac.uk regarding requests for training or software helpdesk enquiries.  Training and support is provided in the following ways:

Computer and software training for staff and students, in business applications, individually or in groups.

Software helpdesk service to staff and students, to enable their use of the Conservatoire’s IT facilities.

An IT induction programme for new staff, in liaison with the Human Resources Department, to inform them of the IT systems and facilities available at the Conservatoire.

An IT induction programme for new students, in collaboration with the Learning Technologist, to inform them of the IT systems and facilities available at the Conservatoire, and to encourage them to use them effectively.

Working with the Learning Technologist to support the use of the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) Moodle and the Portal. Also assisting in basic administration of Moodle and the Staff/Student Portal (WordPress).
