National Schools Workshop: Music

This workshop is aimed at: 

This workshop is aimed at students studying Music at Nat 5 or Higher. Students interested in a sound or music career but not currently studying these subjects are also welcome, but it is recommended they have some instrumental skills or musical knowledge. 

Why should you do it? 

If you are curious about what options there are for further study and careers in music beyond school, then this is the workshop for you. 

Tutor

Roo Geddes is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, and teacher. Roo is fluent in a wide range of genres and is active within many musical communities. Roo’s practice intersects many cultures of music-making, and he enjoys exploring the spaces in between. Growing up, his first musical language was Scottish Traditional Folk music, though he went on to study Classical Violin anJazz at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

  • Information on Access and Higher Education courses that incorporate music 
  • Careers in music

All workshops will: 

  • Require two periods or equivalent 
  • Be targeted toward S5-6 
  • Be offered on a first come first served basis 
  • Provide students with an insight into the fully funded access programmes at RCS, further and high education pathways and potential career options 
  • Serve as talking point on their personal statement 
  • Provide them with transferable skills for their SQA assessments
