National Schools Workshop: Filmmaking

 Exploring Text and Building Character

This workshop is aimed at: 

This workshop is aimed at S5-6 students interested in filmmaking, screenwriting, directing or students who just love to watch films. No prior experience is required.

Why should you do it? 

If you are curious about what options there are for further study and careers in Filmmaking beyond school, then this is the workshop for you. 

Tutor

Students will work with filmmaker Hannah Hunter who is a filmmaker from Kilchoan, Ardnamurchan whose work embraces Scotland’s diversity and creative talent. Her films touch on womanhood, rural living, and the ever-changing experience of being Scottish. 

Workshop Content 

  • Explore creative transferable skills  
  • Delve into camera and lighting techniques 
  • Learn about scriptwriting 
  • Information on Access and Higher Education courses that incorporate filmmaking 
  • Careers in filmmaking

Teachers wishing to book a workshop for their school, please select your desired date from the list and book using the button below:

All workshops will: 

  • Require two periods or equivalent 
  • Be targeted toward S5-6 
  • Be offered on a first come first served basis 
  • Provide students with an insight into the fully funded access programmes at RCS, further and high education pathways and potential career options 
  • Serve as talking point on their personal statement 
  • Provide them with transferable skills for their SQA assessments
