COVID Protocols for Students

Dear Students,

We hope everyone is keeping well and had a restful break. We would like to advise you on the updated guidance for attending face-to-face classes and events with Transitions and WACI.

Until further notice, the following protocols will be in place and it will be required that you follow them for admission into RCS buildings. These protocols apply to all staff and students of RCS, including participants of all ages.

If there are further Scottish Government regulatory changes that affect these protocols, or if test availability becomes problematic, we will issue further guidance. It is unfortunately in the nature of this fast changing situation that our protocols may have to change at short notice.

Protocols

  • You must test twice weekly with a lateral flow test (rapid antigen), and register your result here for entry to RCS buildings.
  • If you are aged 12 or over, you must be prepared to show your negative result confirmation email at the entrance to RCS, and the test must have been taken within 72 hours of the time you require entry to the campus.
  • We will only look at the result, and not retain any data.
  • If you are 12+ and do not show a negative test result obtained within the last 72 hours, which must be a confirmatory email AND NOT A NEGATIVE TEST CASSETTE, you will not be admitted to RCS buildings that day.
  • All students should continue to wear face masks (unless they have a medical exemption), continue to use the hand sanitizers around the building and keep a distance whenever possible.

If you test positive:

  • Register your result online via the government website https://www.gov.uk/report-covid19-result.
  • You must begin self-isolating immediately.
  • We ask that you let RCS know so that we can support you and contact tracing – If you are a Transitions or WACI student and you do not attend Juniors, you can tell us you  have tested positive by emailing transitions@rcs.ac.uk or waci@rcs.ac.uk

If you are asymptomatic, you do not need to do a PCR test. If you are symptomatic, you should register your LFT result online, and take a confirmatory PCR test.
