Would you like to Get Into: Musical Theatre, Filmmaking, Guitar, Singing or Production Arts & Technology? Not sure where to begin? Our free ‘Get Into’ courses could be the perfect answer. 

We’re running five separate programmes in these artforms starting Autumn 2023.

These free weekly sessions will be a great opportunity to:

  • Build your confidence
  • Develop your skills in your chosen artform
  • Meet others who love the same thing as you

BEd Music Bridging Programme 2023

 So You Want To Be A Music Teacher? 

Join our BEd Music Bringing Programme, starting this September!

Are you interested in studying music teaching at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland? This Fair Access BEd Bridging Programme here at RCS aims to enhance the educational context of music teaching and get you ready to apply.

The Bridging Programme is a great opportunity to:

  • explore the skills and qualities of a good teacher
  • learn about educational policy and the Curriculum for Excellence (CfE)
  • develop vocal leadership skills 
  • be offered optional activities such as piano accompaniment, music technology or composition
  • receive your music tuition from the RCS Junior Conservatoire

In addition, you’ll gain valuable experience before applying for the BEd and meet like-minded peers.

This free course is aimed at those aged 16+, who are either:

End of Term Update

Last weekend we celebrated the end of our first term of ‘Get Into Musical Theatre’. Our ten incredible students shared their new skills in front of a full audience of friends, family and Fair Access staff.

Get into Musical Theatre is one of our new activities this year. It runs weekly over three terms and is designed to support Fair Access students develop skills in acting, singing dancing and musicianship – all the skills needed for a Musical Theatre pathway. The course is taught by 3 outstanding professionals including Transitions Musical Theatre Alumni Caitlin Forbes.

We are so proud of our Get Into Musical Theatre group and can’t wait to carry on building skills and having fun next term.

Curious About Film Club

 CURIOUS ABOUT FILM 

Part of the Fair Access ‘Get Into’ Series

When: 7 monthly sessions on Tuesdays from September 2022 to March 2023
Where: GMAC Cinema, 5th Floor, 103 Trongate, Glasgow G1 5HD

Curious About Film is a monthly film club for people who want to explore and engage with film. You will watch and talk about film, get some hands on practical experience of cameras, dabble with animation and sound design and learn about all the different jobs in the film industry. You will get the chance to design your own film festival and programme your own cinema screening event – so you can experience film in all it’s glory!

Workshops and activity will take place at GMAC Film in central Glasgow – with the final screening at Glasgow Film Theatre. This programme of workshops is part of the RCS’s ‘Get Into’ series and is being delivered partnership with GMAC Film and Fair Access at the RCS.

 BRIDGING PROGRAMME: SCENIC ART 

Start Date: September 2022

Do you enjoy art but think it’s not a proper job – think again! If you’re interested in art and in studying at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, join our Fair Access Bridging Programme in Scenic Art. 

For those with skills in art/design, either from school, or as a hobby or as part of a community project, this is a practical part-time course that will teach you all about scenic art. There will be a mixture of 1:1 sessions, group work and practical hands-on RCS Production workshops.

This course is aimed at those aged 16+, with a passion for art who are either living in an SIMD1 postcode area or are care experienced or estranged or black, indigenous or person of colour.
