The Breath

As part of Mental Health Awareness Week in 2020, Laura Gonzalez shared with us her breath practice as a welcome distraction from the pandemic.

Along with her role as Athenaeum Research Fellow, Laura is a yogic breath teacher (a practice called pranayama).

In her blog on the subject, Laura quite reasonably states:

I was adamant I had been breathing for a number of years and I knew how to do it. But this is like thinking one knows how to walk … You just need to go to a dance class to find out it is in fact not the case!

With that thought in mind why not try out Laura’s 14 minute sound recording she prepared especially for us. Take some time away from your screen and breathe with her in the calmest spot you can find at home.
