We published the outcomes of this workshop in the following report.
This workshop was supported by the Founders Fund for Creatives and brought together singing for health practitioners, health care professionals, community link workers, and those working in the arts and health fields to discuss developing training for health care professionals and medical students. Our overall aim was to incorporate opportunities for medical students to engage with singing for health research and practice, such as (though was not limited to):
- developing online and video training for students
- enabling opportunities for singing for health practitioners and researchers to communicate their ongoing work
- facilitating placements where students can visit singing for health groups and take part in sessions
- developing assessments that allow students to develop an independent research project investigating singing for health
- developing continuous professional development for practitioners, where medical students and medics can communicate information about specific health conditions
- identifying funding to develop sustainable collaborative links between the arts and health sectors
The workshop provided a space for everyone to showcase what they do and to discuss the wider arts and health landscape.
