If you reserve a room in Base Glasgow (or another student halls of residence) and wish to pay in instalments, this is only possible if you have a UK-based guarantor. Therefore students coming from overseas will normally have to pay for their accommodation in one lump sum.  The exception to this is those students coming from the USA who have taken out a US Federal Loan to pay for tuition and living costs and will live in Base Glasgow.  These students will be able to pay for their accommodation in Base Glasgow in instalments.  Unfortunately, the RCS cannot act as your guarantor.  If you need a guarantor but cannot find one, you may wish to check out some of the companies which can act as your guarantor, for a fee.  Details can be found in: Accommodation in Glasgow Guide 2021

If you’re a student on an Exchange programme you’re welcome to book a room in Base Glasgow if your mobility duration is for the full academic year.  If your mobility period is for one or two terms, you’ll be able to book a room subject to availability.

Students bringing their families to Glasgow should note that Base Glasgow (along with most other purpose built student accommodation in Glasgow) does not have family accommodation. For further information on accommodation suitable for families, please contact the International and Student Experience Team at welfare@rcs.ac.uk.
