… Working with Care Experienced and Estranged Young People in the Performing and Production Arts

Let’s Talk About… is curated by the Fair Access Department at RCS and funded by the William Grant Foundation. It reaches across artforms, age ranges and geographical locations in Scotland and takes a curious and compassionate approach to learning.

Let’s Talk About… aims to:

Enable spaces for artists to explore and reflect on their creative practice in the context of working with care experienced and estranged young people. Improve RCS Fair Access knowledge of how best to engage with and support care experienced and estranged students. Be young person led and centred. Nurture confidence, autonomy and employability in the project participants. Connect a community of artists, practitioners, teachers and other professionals working in this field.

We are keen to understand the key principles that underpin well-developed and skilfully delivered projects for and with care experienced and estranged young people. Through our investigation we will grow a collection of useful resources which are accessible to anyone working in this field and hold a space for a community of people interested in learning and sharing.

Through this work we hope to encourage dialogue and the ongoing development of a more meaningful creative practice at RCS and in the wider creative community in Scotland.
